How quickly can I get a carton flow solution installed?
All UNEX products are engineered-to-order and lead time depends on the size and complexity of your order. However, lead times for our SpanTrack solution typically range from 5 to 12 weeks on average.
How is UNEX carton flow better or different than the competition or what we already have?
There are several key differentiators that make SpanTrack the leading carton flow solution. Here are the top 5 reasons why SpanTrack is better than other carton flow solutions:
- SpanTrack provides the most surface contact so weight is distributed evenly to optimize product flow and eliminate hang-ups on the track.
- SpanTrack carton flow rollers provide up to 300% more product contact compared to plastic wheel rails.
- SpanTrack carton flow tracks increase throughput up to 150% compared to picking from pallets.
- SpanTrack’s patented design easily drops into existing structures with very little effort.
- SpanTrack is backed by an industry-leading 7-year warranty.
When should I use carton flow rollers and when should I use wheel beds?
If your SKU locations vary in size and tend to change often, wheel beds (SpanTrack Wheel Bed) are recommended for maximum flexibility left-to-right for re-slotting. Dedicated lanes (SpanTrack Lane) are recommended for fixed or predictable SKU locations.
Why should I use steel carton flow rollers as opposed to aluminum? What is the cost difference?
Steel rollers are more durable than aluminum rollers and have a low slope needed for long runs. Steel rollers are more expensive but they are built to withstand difficult workflows and are backed by a 7-year warranty.
Can SpanTrack be relocated after installation?
Yes, SpanTrack easily drops into existing pallet racks and can easily be relocated to other areas or facilities as needed.

Why should I use FlowCell over pipe and joint or aluminum extrusions, or installing carton flow into my existing pallet rack?
While it may make sense for you to install carton flow into your existing pallet rack for certain applications, FlowCell may make more sense if you’re looking for a modular solution that offers more flexibility and allows for frequent process changes. Here are our top 4 reasons to choose FlowCell over pipe and joint or aluminum extrusions:
- FlowCell is much faster to install (30 to 60 minutes per unit).
- Pipe and joint systems are not as durable. With FlowCell, you don’t have to worry about constantly replacing broken joints.
- UNEX offers best-in-class flow with SpanTrack, The Original Carton Flow Track.
- FlowCell is a total solution that is tailor-made to meet your specific requirements.Other solutions are sold as more of an “off-the-shelf” kit and because of this, customers end up purchasing parts they don’t really need. Another downside to this approach is that customers don’t necessarily get the support they need to create solutions that are engineered specifically for their unique applications. Our team of experts will work with you to ensure you are designing a FlowCell solution that will not only meet your immediate needs, but will also allow for maximum flexibility to adapt to process changes over time.

When should I use a skatewheel conveyor?
Skatewheel Gravity Conveyor is ideally suited to convey lightweight packages and where operations require portable or temporary conveyor lines such as warehousing or shipping areas. Here are the top 3 reasons why you may want to choose skatewheel conveyor for your application:
- Skatewheel conveyors require less pitch or angle to transport product.
- Empty boxes and very light loads travel better because the force required to start several wheels in motion is less than a full-width roller.
- Product tracking is better on skatewheel conveyors, especially on curves, as the differential action of the individual wheels allows the product to maintain its original position on the conveyor.
Are there items that cannot be conveyed on a skatewheel conveyor?
Yes, containers with ring-banded bottoms, drums with chimes, most bagged items, and cartons with flimsy or soft bottoms cannot be handled on a skatewheel conveyor.
What are some examples of roller conveyor uses?
Gravity roller is an almost universal answer when it comes to handling products with a smooth, flat bottom. Gravity rollers can be used in flat (level) lines with the product being pushed manually or set at a decline, allowing the load to move forward by gravity. Gravity rollers are also well-suited for order picking applications – both for dynamic storage and the pick conveyor used along the front of the rack.
Can you provide a portable conveyor?
Yes, UNEX makes both skatewheel and 1 ⅜” diameter roller in an aluminum construction. Both the frames and wheels or rollers are aluminum which is lightweight, making them easy to set up and takedown. Portable tripod supports are used to allow for quick setup – the conveyor cross members nest into the top of the support and height adjustments require no tools. This makes them ideal for setting up temporary lines for loading dock applications.
